Ecology at the Abbot’s Mill Project

In its proposals, The Abbot’s Mill Project aims to support the protection and enhancement of habitats of native species through detailed design, specification and mitigation measures.

The project either owns or is responsible for maintaining the land that just into the river Stour opposite the propsed wheel site. It is here we manage a woodland and wildlife garden along permaculture principles.

We work alongside the following groups who are all partners and supporters of the project:

• The Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (UKC)
• The Woodland Trust
• The Conservation Volunteers
• Kent Mammal Group
• Kent Bat Group
• Kent Reptile and Amphibian Group
• Friends of Westgate Parks
• Friends of Hambrook Marshes

We also contined to work with with Canterbury City Council, Kent County Council and the Environment Agency, as experts in the fields of ecology and biodiversity.
